Best of July still to come

It's the main event of Valencia's July Festival this Saturday: La Gran Noche.

Known in the Valencian language as La Gran Nit de Juliol, there will be more than 50 fantastic activities at some 20 locations around the city.

Starting at noon and continuing through to the early hours of Sunday, you'll be able to enjoy street theatre, music, traditional handcrafts, medieval markets, museum night visits, and spectacular live acts and performances at the main squares and other locations around the city.

And don't worry if you've missed the action so far. Apart from La Gran Noche, and even though we're half way through the month, the best of the July Festival is still to come!

On Saturday 26 July 2014 at midnight there will be a firework display at the Royal Marina. And Valencians are experts in pyrotechnics, so expect something spectacular!

Then you have the "Quinto and Tapas Thurdays" starting at 8pm every Thursday in July at the gardens in front of the Palau de La Música Concert Hall. You can relax outside with a cold beer and tapas and enjoy great open air live music starting at 10.30pm, including Remember de los Beatles this Thursday and Karaoke Rock Band on Thursday, 24 July 2014.

In the same location tomorrow at 8pm you can try tasting some excellent Valencian wines and cold meats, and live music performances continue at the Viveros Concerts up until 20 July 2014.

Or why not do some souvenir shopping at the handcraft fairs and medieval markets? They'll be held on Calle Bolsería in the Barrio de Carmen district from 18 to 20 July 2014, and again from 25 to 27 July 2014 in the old river bed.

And if that still isn't enough for you, try a "dinner for the multitudes", known locally as la Puntxà, on the evening of 26 July 2014. This last supper will be the prelude to the end of the festival which is celebrated with the colourful and aromatic Battle of the Flowers on 27 July 2014 at 8pm.

There's plenty to enjoy, so don't miss the rest of the very best that July has to offer in Valencia!
